Imports of liquefied natural gas (LNG) to Zhoushan hit 930 million yuan, making LNG the eighth most imported good in the city by value, thanks to the establishment of ENN Zhoushan LNG Import Terminal last August, which is China's first LNG receiving and filling station project that has received investment from a private company.
Airplanes also took a big share in the city's imports during the period, with the first Boeing 737 aircraft worth 800 million yuan landing in the city last November.
The import of the aircraft not only marked the formal operation of the Boeing 737 Completion and Delivery Center in Zhoushan, but also boosted local foreign trade by being the 10th most imported product of the city.
In addition, fishing, as one of Zhoushan's traditional industries, achieved a good result in imports and exports last year.
The city's aquatic products realized imports of 1.31 billion yuan and exports of 7.93 billion yuan, up 81.1 percent and 17.8 percent year on year.
Zhoushan has accelerated its bulk commodity trade over the past year, by cooperating with domestic oil giants such as Sinopec in building a North Asian crude oil trade center in Zhoushan and strengthening research into iron ore and agricultural produce trade.
It has also enhanced international maritime services, with seven bonded fuel suppliers now located in the city, and formulated more policies to support its bunkering business, such as a three-year action plan on low-sulphur bunker fuel supply in Zhejiang FTZ.
In addition, the city organized local companies to participate in various trade fairs and expositions, such as the first China International Import Expo held in Shanghai in November, in which Zhoushan companies inked deals worth $790 million.
