Several young law enforcement officials from the maritime department of Aoshan Island in Zhoushan, East China's Zhejiang province visited the Indian vessel Mogra that was berthing in the port of the Sinochem Xingzhong Oil Staging (Zhoushan) Co on Jan 24 to send Indian sailors New Year wishes.
The officials brought them red couplets, "zhongguo jie", traditional Chinese red knots, and some tangyuan (sweet dumplings), typical ornaments and food for the Chinese New Year, which aroused the interest of those sailors.
Fernandes Alan, captain of the vessel, gave some candy from his homeland to the officials in return.
They also took part in some fun activities together, such as using chopsticks and playing table tennis, and said "Happy New Year" to all present in their respective native languages.
The sailors were thankful for receiving the gifts and wishes in a foreign land and extended their thanks for the professional, efficient and friendly services offered by the local maritime department.
Mogra arrived at the port recently to discharge 87,582 metric tons of crude oil from Zhanjiang city, Guangdong province. There were 29 Indian sailors on the vessel.
