Zhoushan in East China's Zhejiang province recently finished the comprehensive environmental renovation of its 34 small towns, a year earlier than the originally scheduled date, local media reported.
The city has planned to finish the renovation by the end of 2019 ever since Zhejiang province launched a three-year action plan on Nov 30, 2016 to improve the environment of all its small towns.
Over the past two years, the city has conducted 834 renovation projects worth 2.59 billion yuan ($3.82 billion), with 16 farmer's markets, 181 public toilets, 74 parking lots and 50 squares and parks having been renovated and rebuilt.
In addition, the city was honored as an outstanding city of the province in small-town environment renovation in 2018. Its 11 towns have been named model towns in the province over the past two years.
