Daishan county in Zhoushan, East China's Zhejiang province, has made remarkable progress in its talent introduction over the past year, local media reported.

It introduced 1,050 talents last year, 1.8 times more than the number of local students who will go elsewhere for college studies as they passed the college entrance examination, the first time that the county's talent introduction has seen an actual net growth.

In addition, six ministerial and provincial-level leading talents were introduced, unprecedented for the county.

The breakthrough should be attributed to a series of measures launched by the local government to facilitate the innovation, entrepreneurship and settling of talents in the county last year.

"I just filled in several forms before the government solved my housing, my wife's job mobility and my child's schooling for me," said Xiu Haifeng, an employee at the local bureau of agriculture and rural affairs.

The county also accelerated its green petrochemical development to attract talents. It built a new material industrial park and introduced five supporting companies for the petrochemical industry. Agreements were signed by the local government with six domestic universities and companies to introduce talents to the county.
