Donghai Wuyu Villages (literally meaning five fishing villages in the East China Sea area) in Shengsi county, Zhoushan, East China's Zhejiang province has recently been named a national 4A-level scenic area.

It is the fourth one in the city that has received such an honor, following the Taohua Island in Putuo district, the Zhujiajian Scenic Area in Zhujiajian Island and the International Aquatic City in Shenjiamen Fishing Port.

Donghai Wuyu Villages consists mainly of Tian'ao Village, Huangsha Village, Bianjiao Village, Huicheng Village and Zhi'ao Village in the county, covering an area of 1.9 square kilometers. There are three scenic spots in the area, including the Liujingtan-Heshangtao Scenic Spot, Dabei Mountain and Yuanbao Mountain.

It features distinct island scenery and traditional fishing culture.

Shengsi county has strived in recent years to improve the environment and public services of the five villages, greatly driving the development of the scenic area.

It invested 850 million yuan ($124 million) in various tourist projects of the five villages from 2011 to 2015, including in scenic area construction, homestay and other infrastructure building, and devoted nearly 30 million yuan in 2018 for reconstruction and upgrading.

"The national 4A honor for Donghai Wuyu Villages will contribute significantly to the development of all-for-one tourism in the county," said Lu Ying, deputy director of the county's tourism committee, adding that they will strive to build the scenic area into a model tourist attraction in Zhoushan.

All-for-one tourism is a new concept of tourism that highlights the integration of tourism resources with other industries.
