The 27-month construction period of Yushan Bridge, the only land passage connecting Daishan Island and Yushan Island of Zhoushan, East China's Zhejiang province, came to an end on Dec 31.

The bridge will facilitate the transportation for the Zhoushan Green Petrochemical Base on Yushan Island.

Stretching 8.2 kilometers, the bridge is a key part of the Ningbo-Zhoushan Port Main Channel Project, which is designed to establish a large cross-sea passage that connects Ningbo, Zhoushan and Shanghai.

The Ningbo-Zhoushan Port Main Channel, containing three bridges, is expected to be completed in 2021, and will be the world's longest islands-linking expressway and the largest cross-sea bridge group.

The construction period for the bridge, built by Zhejiang Communications Investment Group Co, was 23 months faster than normal, and set a record for same scale cross-sea bridge construction in China.
