The cargo throughput hit 1 billion metric tons at Ningbo-Zhoushan Port from January to November, a year-on-year increase of 7.4 percent, according to official data released on Dec 11. 

This means at the end of 2018, the port will probably become the world's largest in terms of cargo throughput for the 10th consecutive year.

This year, Ningbo-Zhoushan Port actively participated in the development of Belt and Road Initiative and the Yangtze River Economic Belt, and constantly worked on the transformation and upgrading of its port related industries. 

The port further enhanced sea-railway combined transportation services in the past 11 months with the launching of more train routes connecting the port and inland Chinese cities. 

It also deepened cooperation with major automobile manufacturers including BMW-Brilliance and Geely Group with the aim of establishing stable and long-term ties with big business partners.
