The global power & automation technology giant ABB has recently extended its turbocharging business into Zhoushan, East China's Zhejiang province, with its first branch company in the city opening on Nov 22.

Launched at the Zhoushan Xinya Shipyard Co in Liuheng town, Putuo district, the ABB Turbocharging Co Zhoushan Branch broadens ABB's sales networks in China's southeast coastal areas and the Yangtze River Delta region.

A Swiss-Swedish multinational corporation headquartered in Zurich, Switzerland, ABB is a technology leader in global power grids, electrification products, industrial automation and robotics and motion, and has been a global Fortune 500 company for 24 years.

With over 100 direct service sites in more than 50 countries around the world, it produces turbocharger systems for 50 percent of the global vessels.

ABB and Zhoushan Xinya Shipyard Co reached a consensus on cooperation in 2013, and it was "the choice of market that the ABB Zhoushan co is settled in Liuheng town" as noted by Wang Qingzhou, an executive of ABB China in charge of turbocharging services.

"Zhoushan is now an important ship-repairing center in China, and Liuheng town, by taking up 50 percent of the city's foreign vessel repairing business, about 20 percent of the nation's total, has become a world-renowned foreign vessel repairing hub," said Wang.

The Zhoushan Xinya Shipyard Co also signed a cooperative agreement with the ABB Jiangjin Turbo Systems Co, a subsidiary of ABB in Chongqing, that day.
