Putuo district in Zhoushan witnessed an exciting marathon on Nov 18, with more than 12,000 runners from home and abroad participating in the event.
The 2018 Zhoushan Islands Marathon included the full marathon for the first time, among other events such as the half marathon, fitness running and family running.
The full marathon, with a distance of over 42 kilometers, started from the Putuo Grand Theatre and went through many places in the district, enabling runners to enjoy some of the district's unique views along the route.
To guarantee the smooth running of the event, the organizing committee recruited 2,601 volunteers, and mobilized 15 of the city's medical and healthcare institutions, with 285 medical workers and 18 ambulances supplied, and 30 medical first-aid stations set up along the track.
Meanwhile, a group of 60 policemen were organized by the district's security authorities to protect the safety of runners during the event.
