Zhejiang Petrochemical Co (ZPC) in Zhoushan signed a memorandum of understanding with the US high-tech giant Honeywell to jointly build a smart connected plant at the 1st China International Import Expo (CIIE) in Shanghai on Nov 7.

The project, worth around $80 million in contract value, was the first deal made by a Zhoushan company at the CIIE.

"We've had cooperation with ZPC before, and this time we hope that our interconnection technologies will help make Zhoushan plants more intelligent-based," said Yu Feng, global vice president and Asia-Pacific general manager of Honeywell Specialty Materials and Technology Group.

Honeywell, founded in 1885, was rated by Fortune magazine as one of the top 20 high-tech companies in the world. Its business in China covers aviation, smart architecture, industrial control technologies and specialty materials.

Luo Wei, executive director of ZPC, believes their cooperation with Honeywell will drive the intelligent operations reform and digital transformation of ZPC, making the company's operations safer, more reliable and more efficient.

The 1st China International Import Expo (CIIE) opened on Nov 5 is the world's first State-level expo themed on imports. Over 3,600 companies from 172 countries, regions and international organizations participated, and more than 400,000 purchasers from home and abroad engaged in purchasing negotiations.

Representatives from more than 200 companies in Zhoushan went to the expo for visiting and business.
