The ENN Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) Import Terminal in Zhoushan, Zhejiang province, commenced its gas supply to the city through the Daobei gas station of the Zhoushan Blue Fire Gas Company on Aug 29.

The terminal, invested in by ENN Group (Zhoushan) LNG Co, a private-owned energy company, is China's first LNG receiving and filling station that has received investment from a private company.

It is estimated that around 57,000 to 72,000 metric tons of LNG will be supplied to the city every day, meeting the LNG demands for daily life and industrial use.

The move ends the reliance of Zhoushan on gas cars to transport LNG from elsewhere to the city's LNG vaporizing station, before piping it to the city's homes, shops and offices.

The new form of gas supply will solve the problem of unstable gas supply in bad weather such as typhoons, when often there would be transportation problems with gas cars arriving in the city on time, and help reduce the cost of LNG for households and industries.
