Taohua Island is the home of the Putuo Daffodil, one of three most precious daffodils in China. It is also renowned for its “Botanic Garden in the Islands”, as it has the largest area of coastal forest in Zhejiang province.

The island is mentioned many times in two well-known martial arts novels, Condor Trilogy and The Return of the Condor Heroes by Jin Yong, a famous Chinese martial arts novelist. The Taohua Island did not gain large popularity until the two martial arts TV plays -- Condor Trilogy and Demi-Gods and Semi-Devils -- were shot on the island in 2001 and 2002. Since then, it has gradually formed into a hot island tourist resort.
