Located in the North Zhoushan Islands, Zhoushan National Pelagic Fishing Base covers an area of 5.98 sq km. There is a national central fishing port here, called West Pier Fishing Port. With a 7.6- km deep water shoreline and 700-m long port which is open for trade with foreign countries, it has built two 10,000 tons and one 5,000 tons specialized wharfs for fishery as well as 27,000 tons of single refrigerated storage, which is the biggest in Zhoushan.

This base focuses on developing ocean-going fishing, the deep-processing of aquatic products, cold chain logistics, building and repairing fishing-boats and other relevant industries to build it into a domestically first-class and internationally influential base port. The ultimate goal is for it to become a global center for ocean-going fishery, an international trade center for aquatic products, a cold chain logistic area for processing ocean-going aquatic products as well as a building and repairing center for ocean-going fishing-boats.
